Hello! My name is Ruth Toomer, and I teach 10th - 12th grade special education at Boone Community School District.
I grew up in northwest Iowa and attended elementary school in Fonda, Iowa. Later, my family moved to Early, Iowa, and I attended Schaller-Crestland High School (now consolidated into Ridgeview). I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education - English through Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa. I later completed my Master's Degree in Special Education (specializing in behavior and learning disorders) from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. |
After working as an associate in the special education department at Spencer High School for two years, I obtained a teaching position with Rabiner Treatment Center (a private residential facility for struggling boys) where I taught high school language arts for four years. After leaving RTC, I taught high school/middle school special education at Pocahontas Area Community Schools from 2010-2015.
The 2019-2020 school year is my 5th year at Boone High School. I am also the sponsor of BHS's GSA. I am so excited to be a part of the phenomenal staff and work with our amazing students at BHS! G0 Toreadors!!!
